Controllers

Raypak units respond to a call for heat from a sensor. Our pool heaters ship with a poolstat. Our water heaters require a sensor in the storage tank. Our boilers require a sensor in the system piping. Controllers can be as simple as a mechanical switch to activate the appliance, or as sophisticated as an electronic controller that includes 2-way communication with computerized Building Management System protocols such as LonwWorks or BACnet and operates many units simultaneously. The MVB, Xtherm, XFyre, XPak, and Instant-Pak units include a built-in controller, so no additional components are required to operate a single unit. The XFyre product line incorporates cascade controls, so a single XFyre can also act as the control device for up to 7 additional XFyres, still without requiring an external controller.

B-2 Tankstat, On-Off

Ray-Temp Staged Digital Controllers

The Ray-Temp 2- and 4-stage controller is a demand-based staging setpoint control system for domestic hot water systems. It can be used with single or multiple staged units, and can be factory-mounted on Hi Deltas. For the Delta Limited product line, it can be shipped loose only. The RayTemp adjusts water temperatures based upon system demand to minimize energy consumption during off-peak times. It monitors daily and weekly hot water usage, modifying supply water temperature based upon the most recent history. As a result, standby losses, the single most significant contributor to energy waste, are eliminated. Consult your local energy suplier for possible rebates applicable to demand-based controllers such as the RayTemp. Both models are eligible for the maximum California Energy Rebates.
